Cheap Flight review

Cheap Flight is a 1 episode tanpatsu drama about cabin attendants of a cheap airline company.

Synopsis (from DramaWiki and Jdramas): 

32 is an unlucky age for Aizawa Miharu (Takeuchi Yuko), a cabin attendant who works at a major airline. One day, she is ordered to transfer to a new company that the airline has invested in. The new company is Cherries, a low-cost carrier. Although Miharu is shocked, she bounces back with characteristic cheerfulness and decides to work hard. However, on her first day at work, she is taken aback by the grim reality when welcomed by the company president Hoshi Kotaro (Funakoshi Eiichiro) and Kamogawa Takashi (Mukai Osamu) who manages all the departments. With the addition of Miharu, the members of this startup are just three persons. She is bewildered by the extremely hyper Hoshi and the handsome but arrogant Kamogawa. Furthermore, distribution of recruitment leaflets for new cabin attendants on the streets and the clean up of the airline makes Miharu realise that she has been demoted. The trainees Hoshi has hired are all inexperienced: former nurse Enomoto Yuki (Kato Ai), jobless university graduate Kuramochi Tomoka (Kiritani Mirei), 55-year-old former taxi driver Ichinomiya Keiko (Miyazaki Yoshiko), ex-cosmetics salesgirl Sakurada Maria (Triendl Reina), aeroplane enthusiast Mitsuba Ayano (Asakura Erika) and former volleyball player Yamamoto Chizuru (Nomura Masumi).

Review

Story

Miharu is an experimented cabin attendant and she was chosen to become the trainer for the CA of a new air line company. However, she was shocked at how different it is at the new company...

This is a drama about cabin attendants in training, but from the point of view of the teacher.  This was interestingly different. An other different aspect is that the low cost carrier company is doing everything they can to save costs, by example by hiring CAs randomly walking on a street. Thus, this CA/airline drama had many different aspects going for it for an enjoyable experience.

The story was average. It is following the pattern of a standard drama. There was nothing really outstanding here, but this does not mean it is a bad thing. It is still enjoyable as a light drama. I thought that the pace was good and did not feel bored. I did not agree however with all the actions taken in it.

Acting

I think this was my first time to see Takeuchi Yuko acting. I was pretty impressed by her acting. She seems like an experienced actress. I think she played her role well and I liked the development of her character.
I felt that there was a good synergy between the cabin attendants. There is a good variety of personalities.
However, sometimes I was annoyed by the male roles, the two managers.

Music

I felt like they chose to save money on this aspect. They just used a lot of different American songs throughout the drama. 

Recommendation

The only other drama that I know about cabin attendant is Attention Please!
Attention Please! is about cabin attendants in training school.
