My impressions :

What kind of drama is Dai ni Gakusho? It is a drama about music with lots of drama (haha). Dai ni Gakusho shows the bittersweet reunion of two old time friends after 20 years. We learn about them, and their past such as why did they stop seeing each other? The two who were best friends have gone separate ways in life.
This has lots of music elements into. The main character all play a musical instruments and are/were part of an orchestra. It had nice classical music and orchestra scenes. Playing music and relationship between music players seemed like a big focus.Other than that, we mainly learn about relationship and friendship between the characters. It is very slow, full of emotions and I even became teary. I was able to feel emotions felt by the main actress, Hada Machiko.

The story did not leave enough incentive to watch the next episode. It was not bad in itself, but I do not feel interested enough. I did not really care about what is going to happen after the reunion or to know more of the secrets of their separation. It did not make me curious.

I would say that this drama is geared more towards a mature audience. The main actresses are in their 40s and I think it tackles life happenings of that age. If you are looking for a new Japanese drama that is slow-paced, mature, about relationship , I think you can try this one.

Sadly, I won't keep watching this due to lack of interest.
